There's about a week left for March 2026, but it's a fact we're already nearing the end of this month. Several themes have been incredibly important this month, although it is through the reflection of today that I feel the bricks falling into place. Ever since I was young I have had this capability to kind of see the bigger picture, I act often on what I know is ahead of me. Which can be incredibly confusing sometimes, because I cannot always explain why.

Most of our experiences that we live in a certain moment, especially the ones that are out of our ordinary daily routines, make an impact days, weeks or even months later. It's been almost 2 weeks since we left Scotland and although the journey was at part overshadowed by the everyday worries of my life as a mom and self employed artist, I do realise, that our trip there couldn't come at a better time.

After Samhain and during the 12 Magical Nights (done from the Winter Solstice) in 2025, I made 2 whole-year spreads with a Plant Oracle deck, Animal Oracle deck and my ever so loyal Druidry deck that I've head for 21 years. These whole years give an insight and small peek into the themes for each month and I use these 3 different decks to see the lines of what teachings might appear.

For March, these teachings had much to do with counting the blessings. Winter's grasp was holding onto the salon, which would be closed as we'd travel to Scotland regardless, so it was a good moment to let go of the business for a couple of days and spend conscious time with my family. It also showed gathering inspiration and strengthening the bond with nature (thank you Pittencrieff Park, for providing just that!).

The overall message for March was to have periods of time with calm, rejuvenation, structure. Being able to retreat, take a step back and reflect - something I found impossible to do when I was still working for a boss and in a high-active environment. Did we have a lot of room for the Scotland trip? Actually, no. But did we need to make room for the Scotland trip? Absolutely. Should we do it again? Hell yeah. So we'll travel to Ireland at the end of April :-).

And then, when the Spring Equinox arrived, that change from dark half to light half - it almost felt like you could touch that change. We had a celebration on the Saturday, but the Equinox moment itself was the Friday afternoon just before. Despite the harsh winds currently ravishing through the trees here and testing the longevity of my Spring portal decoration, there's this newness in the air, the longer days.

During the celebration, all 8 of us went into the woods to gather materials to create a natural altar. We ran out of time so didn't manage to make it, but yesterday - as the sun was brightly shining and the wind not as cold - I took out the basket full of the gifts and laid down a pattern, intuitively. Looking at it today, birds are pecking and picking at the different items to bring to the nests that they're building. Where in Scotland we had basically a live show of a big murder of crows building their imperium in the high trees in front of our windows, Norway needed around two more weeks to get to that point. But that's what the altar is for. The forest provided for us, we provided for the local animal and plant life and so the circle goes round and round.

March has also been the pivot of a stern change of direction for Siren Enchantments. When I opened a little over a year ago, I was determined to bring my passions together, but with the fear of not getting enough customers I'd stoop down to really low prices for some of the services I offered. With the share of each service going to the state largely taking up more than half of the income and unfortunately a certain percentage of people not respecting my way of work, or my prices, or my closing hours, or the fact that I'm not a drop-in Sanctuary. I had to turn 180 degrees or I'd end up where I willingly would close Siren down and never talk of it again. I was working myself towards a burnout for a percentage of people that would not respect my experience anyway.

Now, I am absolutely ok not being for everyone, I don't want to be for everyone. But the pressure of having to make ends meet in a world that's straying towards complete and total devastation due to the systems in place - that serve no one but the very few - is sometimes pushing you in the direction that you wanted to get out of in the first place. Yes Siren was earning money, but not a liveable wage - and that returning issue was exactly why I stopped being an employee! What was I doing?!

It is important we realise the worth, the work and the importance of craftmanship. Siren Enchantments has never been just or only a salon, the goal was always a sanctuary to be able to offer a wide array of my passions, experience and expertise. A current against the overwhelming rush of quick, cheap and yet never good enough. This is not what Siren is and this trajectory I was going? It had to stop - immediately.

Siren Enchantments is also a preparation-garden becoming. That means that in times of need, my garden should provide sustenance, healthy food and medicine for those in the direct neighborhood affected as well as my family and closest friends. I am taking classes and courses for this and am investing in deep work with the land once again.

I realised that I'm in a better position to survive a world on fire as a selfsufficient gardener with a side hustle, than a stressed out salonowner who is too tired to grow a potato.

So changes were made and some will hop along, while others will not. And that is ok :-).

After the Spring Equinox I had told myself that I wanted to prepare the labyrinth for May. You see, we celebrate Bealtaine in May and then the labyrinth is basically a little bit in the way. Stones had to be cleared and find a new place, so we're able to do the Maypole dance with all participants on the 2nd of May 2026 (I'll post a link under if you should be interested). As I started moving the stones, I could feel the energy of the land vibrating, almost humming - and yes that would partly also be my own blood rushing through my body while moving some of those very heavy rocks. When I stood in the middle of the labyrinth, with the birch pole, now a full circle I saw two crocus flowers showing their newness. Just there, right by the birch pole.

Information on the celebration can be found here, just click the picture below:

The Crocus is what I consider THE flower that signs the return of spring. Their message is one of joy and cheerfullness. And as I was wondering what the labyrinth wanted to tell me as I placed each stone into its new place, it maybe was just that. To have dignity, pride and feel success in who we are, what we do, our capabilities to grow and tend. Last night, as the waxing crescent moon looked down over the land, the birch pole suddenly stood out a little more. Yes the lights help, but I'm used to the sight of the birch pole as it is there everyday. The story of how it got there is one of its own that is a recurring happy memory.

The birch is a symbol of harmony, impermanence and life's cyclical nature. It's also the perfect Bealtaine tree as it has strong fertility connections. Bealtaine fires in Scotland were made with birch and oak. It is one of the trees that often comes into leaf first and would therefor be an obvious choice as a symbol of spring.

How beautiful, under that pale moon light, to stand tall and await the decorations of the May celebration.

March, you were a beautiful reminder that rest, taking things slow, patience, retreating and tending to the inner landscape is not lazyness, it's not unwillingness to work, it is to move with the seasons, the sun, the moon and the stars. The elements around us which we are exposed to daily. It is of utmost importance if we want to stay sane in today's world and a good inner preparation for the summer half of the year to come.

I hope March was good to you too, dear reader and wherever you may be;

stay loving and stay kind,

Lene
