We've passed the longest day of the year and we will slowly head towards the dark half of the year again, even though we still have a way to go. The sun is shining and heat rules over the European continent these days, with warnings alike. June can be experienced as the time where things are a bit much and that counts for my own experience as well.
I've just returned from my travels; Sojourn of Sirens in the UK with two fantastic souls willing to embark on this journey. As you can read in the blog I wrote before this one, the connections made are something that will last in one way or another. The progress as well as the processes working in their own ways and time. I've felt like I was floating on clouds the whole time. What a beautiful time we've had.
Having one day to rest yet also prepair for the Summer Solstice wasn't an easy feat I can tell you. My energy always feels a bit scattered during the summer, 2026 being no exception, but I was very much looking forward to this year's celebration. With the warning of thunder and rain also becoming part of our day it would surely be a bit of an explosive celebration.
I couldn't participate in the plantjourney around Gjellberget as there was a lunch to prepare and rituals as well so I stayed behind while the other participants joined. In the meantime I did the last preparations on the labyrinth and stonecircle. As the day progressed I realised that the Sojourn was doing it's work. The changes I've been implementing for Siren did their work and at the end of the day, as the final ceremony was to commence, the skies changed to dark, threathening clouds and a pourdown of rain that we hadn't experienced yet. Rumbling in the sky, growing with my own frustration and realisations at the same time.
At the end of the day we went our own way, participants went home and I walked the labyrinth once more, sat in the stone circle once more as the sun had come back and only the grass under my feet reminded me of that spectacle we witnessed only an hour or two before.
I sat with the discomfort. The discomfort of having to be more stern, protecting my boundaries, speaking up. In Norway I feel that people do not necessarily speak up, most people (and I'm a hairstylist as well as an artist so I've met a LOT of people the last 9 years to confirm my observations) are not direct. I, a Dutchy, AM direct, but I've been trying too hard to accomodate my intergration towards passivity. But this Summer Solstice my boundaries were crossed and I had to sit with that for a bit.
June for me, has been a month of cleaning and tidying up, removing cobwebs laying on old patterns and ways to be, dusting off boundaries I put up but did not keep, old tape trying to stick to being quiet to remain the peace. It isn't working that way, cracks will begin to show, eventually things run over and at that point you might not even realise what is supposed to be fixed.
This place, this house, this garden - this is my Sanctuary. I put so much love, effort, energy and time into it, bit by bit while the economy is crashing down and climate changes seem to be amplified faster and faster. June showed me what happens if I don't stand my ground. If I don't protect the land, if I don't lend my voice to all the tiny creatures that cannot speak as well as all that grows, bears seed and fruit.
June reminded me to: work with meaning, a bigger conciousness and understanding, a clear view on my goals, an agreement between how I feel and where I wish to go in life and the importance to keep on speaking up when wrong happens.
Next week we'll be in July and I've decided to spent most of this month studying as this will be a big focus demand in the coming months. I've also changed my events to 16+ years and upped the participant fee. Those with a Siren Wheel of the Year pass for 2026 will continue to have access to the events without changes. I've also had to update my policies to make sure the garden space is covered in case of damage. I wish it didn't have to be like this, but my generosity is not up for abuse and policies are there to make sure I can focus on ceremony, ritual and celebration rather than being stressed about the Sanctuary being damaged.
So June has been a bit of a pivotal month too, it's been shaky, it's been dark waters and challenging hikingtrails. It's been singing into the dark, weaving threads with others, building magic and cutting bad connections to that which does not serve any of us. Siren Enchantments is so connected to the water. Water that heals, water that changes, water that nourishes and water that shapes the very cliffs along the coastline.
May July be more kind and quiet to let the processes do their work without rush and may we rest when nature forces us inside our homes or into cool water because of the heat. Yes the energy is up there, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't take good care of yourself.
Stay safe and grounded and be honest from your heart,
Lene
